New Jersey’s community colleges have teamed up with Rowan University to offer one of the most innovative community college leadership doctoral programs in the country.

New Jersey’s community college presidents have supported four cohorts for Rowan University’s Community College Leadership Initiative, a doctorate in education program offered through a partnership between Rowan University’s Graduate School of Education and New Jersey’s community colleges.

The Community College Leadership Initiative is designed for professionals working in the community college sector. It is delivered in a hybrid format – online with three in-person Saturday meetings for each course. The Saturday classes meet at one of New Jersey’s community colleges.

Many New Jersey community college presidents teach in the program and serve on dissertation committees.

Successful graduates of this program have advanced into leadership positions within New Jersey’s community colleges, including Vice President for Academic Affairs, Vice President of Administrative Services, Vice President for Institutional Research and Planning, Vice President of Student Services, and many others.
