Higher Education Report
TRENTON, N.J.—Today, New Jersey Council of County
Colleges Chairman Ron Winthers and President Lawrence A. Nespoli issued
the following statement in response to the Kean Commission on Higher Education
Report, released by Governor Chris Christie:
"Like all New Jerseyans, we are grateful for the efforts
of Governor Kean and his fellow task force members and are encouraged
that we once again have a governor who recognizes the importance of higher
education.
"We look forward to reviewing the recommendations
and options presented by Governor Kean's task force and to working with
the Legislature and the Governor on the ideas that the Council, in concert
with the Legislature and Governor, finds meritorious."
The New Jersey Council of County Colleges is the state
association representing New Jersey’s 19 community colleges. As
an independent, trustee-headed organization that joins the leadership
