Community Colleges Respond to Kean Commission on Higher Education Report

TRENTON, N.J.—Today, New Jersey Council of County Colleges Chairman Ron Winthers and President Lawrence A. Nespoli issued the following statement in response to the Kean Commission on Higher Education Report, released by Governor Chris Christie:

"Like all New Jerseyans, we are grateful for the efforts of Governor Kean and his fellow task force members and are encouraged that we once again have a governor who recognizes the importance of higher education.

"We look forward to reviewing the recommendations and options presented by Governor Kean's task force and to working with the Legislature and the Governor on the ideas that the Council, in concert with the Legislature and Governor, finds meritorious."

The New Jersey Council of County Colleges is the state association representing New Jersey’s 19 community colleges. As an independent, trustee-headed organization that joins the leadership of trustees and presidents, the Council is the voice of the community college sector before the state legislature and other branches of government.
