Congressman Pascrell to Host 50th Anniversary Luncheon Celebrating New Jersey’s Community Colleges
New Jersey Congressman William Pascrell (9th Congressional District) will host a 50th anniversary luncheon celebrating the educational and economic impact of New Jersey’s 19 community colleges on Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at the US Capitol Building, Room HC-8, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
During the event, community college trustees, presidents, and administrators will be on hand to highlight the unique contributions community colleges have made to the economic and educational vitality of the State of New Jersey. The entire New Jersey Congressional Delegation has been invited to attend.
“This is a banner year for our state’s community colleges, and we are pleased to join with Congressman Pascrell and our members of the NJ Congressional Delegation to recognize their strong support for the federal higher education programs that matter most to community colleges,” said NJCCC President Dr. Lawrence Nespoli. “For example, last year nearly 90,000 New Jersey community college students received over $273 million in Pell grants that helped them achieve their higher education dreams.”
In addition, Brookdale Community College alumnus Kevin Przystawski will share his personal community college success story. And Zodiac Aero Evacuation Systems Vice President of Manufacturing Neil Cavaleri and Vice President of Human Resources Scott Ernst will share their experiences of working with community colleges to develop and implement workforce training programs.
