New Jersey's Community Colleges
In a rapidly changing world and intensely competitive global economy, New Jersey’s community colleges are critical institutions of higher education and economic opportunity, able to reach a significant proportion of the state’s population and offer an affordable, high-quality education that serves the complex needs of students, employers, and local communities.
Many of New Jersey’s 18 community colleges were created 50 years ago, and now serve more than 300,00 people each year in credit, non-credit, and workforce development courses. Over 200,000 students - more than half of all undergraduate students in public colleges and universities in the state - are enrolled at New Jersey’s community colleges. The community colleges also enroll nearly 100,000 students in non-credit programs and partner with thousands of businesses to meet their training and workforce needs.
New Jersey’s community colleges are uniquely positioned to help the economy grow, industries thrive, and people succeed in an era of rapid economic, social, and technological change.
