Statement of the New Jersey Council of County Colleges on the Violence Against People of Asian Descent

The New Jersey Council of County Colleges and the state's 18 Community Colleges express our solidarity with and support for people of Asian descent across the country and in our communities.

The murders in Atlanta last week were part of a disturbing and deeply concerning rise in hate, violence, and bias in our country directed to people of Asian descent. We strongly condemn these hateful acts and encourage all members of our communities to do the same. Indeed, we condemn any hateful act towards any ethnic group.

New Jersey's Community Colleges are rooted in the core values of diversity, equity, inclusion, and opportunity. We value all people and embrace the need to stop hatred and promote peace through education, continued discourse, and by doing all we can to ensure that every member of our community knows they are welcome on our campuses and in our communities.
